ASTON VILLA defender Anna Patten has been called up by Ireland for the first time ahead of the Euro 2025 qualifiers with France and England.

Girls in Green boss Eileen Gleeson has included Patten, 24, for the meeting with Les Bleus in Metz on Friday week and then the Aviva Stadium meeting with England on Tuesday April 9.

The former England youth cap, who was previously with Arsenal, qualifies for Ireland as her Grandfather is from Donegal and Grandmother from Galway.

She is still awaiting international clearance, but it is expected before the squad meet up on Easter Monday.

Patten is the only new face in the squad with Tara O’Hanlon, Sinead Farrelly and Jamie Finn all ruled out through injury.
