Youri Tielemans suffered a groin injury in Aston Villa's draw with Chelsea on Saturday evening - but reports emerging from the midfielder's native Belgium this week suggest that there is 'no serious damage' following scans he underwent over the weekend.

Tielemans, 26, has grown into his first season at Villa Park, having signed on a free transfer from Leicester City last summer; particularly since the injury to Boubacar Kamara and the ongoing issues with Jacob Ramsey, Tielemans - who scored a couple for Belgium in their March friendly with England at Wembley - has been granted his opportunity by Unai Emery.

He was forced off less than half an hour into the 2-2 stalemate with Chelsea at Villa Park on Saturday, however, when Tielemans could be seen clutching his groin.

"Even with the injury of Tielemans, we will have to wait for tomorrow [Sunday]," Emery said of Tielemans and fellow injury victim Emiliano Martinez. "I don’t know exactly. Even if they are not available for one week, two weeks, three weeks, we have to accept it."

Reports in Belgium claim that Tielemans had a scan on Sunday and that the severity of the issue isn't deemed to be 'too bad', which offers optimism that we might see Tielemans again this season. Villa have a minimum of five matches remaining of their season - although, clearly, hopefully six - with trips to Brighton and Crystal Palace sandwiching the visit of Liverpool in the Premier League. Olympiacos await in the Europa Conference League.
